Two held for kidnapping city businessman in Rajasthan

Search on for five more; the culprits took ransom of Rs 29 lakh for his releasThe criminals who had allegedly kidnapped a 26-year-old Pune-based businessman in Rajasthan and took a ransom of Rs 29 lakh for his release have been identified and two of them have been arrested. Mehmood Rashid Khan (34) of Bharatpur, Rajasthan, has been arrested in Mangalore. The second person arrested is Ravikumar Sharma, also of Bharatpur and the assistant manager of the bank in which the ransom money was transferred.

The businessman, who lodged the complaint at Deccan Gymkhana police station, is an electronics engineer. The ransom money was transferred into two bank accounts given by the kidnappers through Rtgs

Police inspector Vitthal Shelar of crime branch is investigating the case. During probe, he identified the other persons involved in the crime. The crime branch took Mehmood’s custody from Managalore jail. Mehmood told the police during interrogation that there are several gangs active in Bharatpur, Rajasthan who kidnap people for ransom.p

Mehmood also told police that he has withdrawn Rs 19 lakh from the bank account and distributed the amount to the gang which kidnapped the businessman. Also, probe revealed that a minor boy from Bharatpur was holing the bank account in which remaining the Rs 10 lakh were transferred.

The minor boy was nabbed and he said he has given the money to the gang of kidnappers. These gangsters have been identified as Mudassar Hanif Khan (23), Tariq Hanif Khan (18), Zuber Sadiq Khan (28), Ansi Kamal Khan (23) and Saker Juma Khan (35), all from Uttar Pradesh. Police said that all five are on the run.

Police said that the complainant is owner of a start-up firm started in 2015 dealing in e-waste management. Police said he had received a contract from a prominent private company and needed aluminium wires as raw material for his work. He posted his requirement on websites. Around July 9, he got a call from one Mohit Sharma from Rajasthan with offered to sell aluminium wire scrap at a reasonable p

However, when the complainant went to Rajasthan for the deal, he was kidnapped and taken to a spot in Bharatpur on a motorcycle.

Pointing pistols at him, the kidnappers took away his valuables and demanded ransom of Rs 30 lakh for his release.

As per the instructions of kidnappers, the complainant called his father who works with a merchant navy company, and demanded money, saying he needed it for purchasing a big quantity of raw material. His father then transferred Rs 29 lakh through RTGS in two bank accounts. After released by the kidnappers, the complainant and his employee then walked two kilometres to reach the railway station. From there they went to Mathura and then to Delhi and from there to Pune on July 20.
