Scrap dealer kidnaping in kolkata
Kolkata: Police have reopened a case related to the mysterious disappearance of businessman Baidhar Sahoo as they suspect involvement of gangster brothers Sushant and Sushil Dhal Samant in it.
Sahoo, a scrap dealer, went missing in 2005. Though his family had the lodged a complaint alleging that he had been kidnapped, police are yet to trace him. "We have reopened the case and will probe it thoroughly," said DCP (Cuttack) Sanjeev Arora.
With the arrest of DS brothers' close associate Bhola Bhagat, police are hopeful of cracking the case. "Bhagat knows many secrets of the gang. We hope that he will spill the beans during interrogation," said a senior police officer.
Besides Sahoo, the commissionerate of police suspects involvement of the gangster siblings in the murder of Sagar Panda, a criminal. He was brutally killed in 2011 near his house at Kissanagar on the outskirts of Cuttack. "The rural police have been informed about the case," the DCP added.
Bhagat, who had been on the run since the arrest of the gangster brothers on January 28, was nabbed from Kanpur on Saturday and brought to Cuttack on Monday. The SDJM court here has allowed police to take him on five-day remand. "Bhagat was the right-hand man of Sushant and handled his business," said a police officer.
